According to attorneys for our beloved Governor, gays can’t marry in Pennsylvania because the same-sex couples who were given marriage licenses were barred from marrying, just like 12-year-olds. Of course, 12 year olds can’t enter into contracts in the first place, but why sweat the details. Comparing gays to children–always a solid strategy!
The Corbett administration filed a lawsuit seeking to block same-sex marriage licenses in Montgomery County, where Register of Wills D. Bruce Hanes began issuing licenses to gay and lesbian couples in July.
According to the Inquirer, “In a brief Wednesday, state attorneys said those marriage licenses were never valid, and compared gay and lesbian couples to ’12-year-olds’ who are also barred from marrying under state law.”
